check the column width number on the PC and the mac. Maybe the cells are just that large? You can right click the line between the coulmns and hit column width and it will give you the number width of the column. What resolution are the MACs set on? I'm guessing the PC is set to 1366*768. Its super odd that it would be tied to the resolution. It's just something in the Mac to PC translation that is getting lost or distorted somehow, I think. I have opened the Excel file on a second Mac (only other one available here) and it looks normal on the other Mac as well. If you have the mac person create a new one with a few bits of fake data and send that to the pc, does it do the same? I'm wondering - although at the moment I can't even convince myself how this would be possible, that is has something to do with screen resolution on the mac vs PC
